Last night Katy bravely, trustingly and maybe partially naively, informed me that there are 3 embryos, not 2.
T H R E E.
3.
1. 2. 3.
1 more than 2.
*gulp*
She casually adds, "it really doesn't increase the risk." The 'risk' being a multiple birth. Easy for her to say. Well not really I guess because the 'risk' goes home with her!
This afternoon she sends me a text. This is our short exchange:
Her: so my mother is convinced we are having tripplets
Me: Me too
Her: what!? no! !!we are only signing on for 1! 2 tops! you can have the 3rd. consider it a gift with purchase!
Me: Then I'm out!
Her: ok maybe that wasn't fair. just make less than 1% your mantra.
Me: Lol! Just write tummy tuck into your budget <3 u!
Her: ok fyi when i see <3 i see a ball sac not a heart
Me: Lol! I c ice cream! I gotta get back to work
Coming from where I come from, a highly fertile family, my perspective and mindset is that this is a done deal. The embryos will go in and they will take with no problem. Easy for me to say. But this is why 3 is scarier than 2. I've only carried 1 at a time. 2 is unknown territory but imaginable. 3 is not within my realm of comprehension. Mind you this is assuming they all survive The Thaw. The opposite end of my spectrum is Katy and Matt and they haven't had any success with getting anything to stick. So even though 3 is a blessing because their odds have increased, I'm not sure they're allowing themselves to fully see/feel that increase of hope. And I don't blame them. But, they'll have to manage to grasp that possible reality, because what comes out goes home with them!
3 means that much more to think about and consider. 3 means an instant family. 3 means three times the love. 3 is what good things come in.
Little Wonders
For Katy and Matt. May you realize that each step of this is a little wonder, a small miracle. We love you! ~Kelly & Ben

Kelly! 3 means we will immediately be out numbered! We can't win if there is a vote! Well, I suppose parenting has never been a democracy.
